Si tuvieron la oportunidad de leer mi publicación anterior sabrán que hoy me encuentro avanzando hacia un viaje de misiones en el extranjero, y que he decidido decirle Sí a Jesús a esta aventura de fe con Él. Pero lo que quizás aún no saben es a dónde viajaré, cuándo lo haré, y por qué viajaré allá, y pues ese es el propósito de esta publicación, responder todas esas preguntas, y hacer el anuncio oficial del viaje.
Cuando pensaba en escribir esta publicación hay una canción que no podía sacarme de la cabeza, y espero que al hablarles de esta puedan empezar a adivinar el destino de mi viaje. Hay una canción de Shakira que me encanta, es una canción súper alegre y divertida, fue la canción que lanzó para la Copa Mundial de la FIFA en el año 2010, la famosa Waka Waka: This Time for Africa! Y pues sí, el destino de mi viaje será ¡África! ¡Que emocionante y hermosa oportunidad! Específicamente los países que estaré visitando son Eswatini/Suazilandia y Sudáfrica.
El viaje lo estaré realizando con The World Race, un ministerio que forma parte de Adventures in Missions, y estoy muy contenta y emocionada de poder hacer este viaje con ellos. Algunos años atrás tuve la oportunidad de conocer acerca de esta organización y desde la primera vez que los vi me enamoré completamente de lo que hacían. Recuerdo que cuando supe de ellos dije en mi corazón cuánto me encantaría poder hacer un viaje de misiones junto a esta organización, pero honestamente pensé que nunca lo haría ya que en aquel momento mi vida estaba enfocada en otras cosas y además lo veía como algo extremadamente difícil o prácticamente imposible, pero bueno ¡aquí estoy hoy caminando hacia esa dirección finalmente!
El viaje se llevará a cabo en Enero 2023, y tendrá una duración de 4 meses aproximadamente. La razón por la cual escogí este viaje es por los diferentes enfoques ministeriales que éste incluye, entre los cuales se encuentran: Ministerio de Niños, Desarrollo de la Comunidad, Alcance a la Comunidad, Evangelismo, Discipulado, entre otros.
Cada uno de los enfoques ministeriales arriba mencionados me encantan, y amo la idea de poder ser parte de cada uno ellos de diversas maneras durante este viaje, pero uno que fue determinante para mi decisión fue el Ministerio de Niños.
Les comparto a continuación un poco de la información proporcionada por la organización con respecto a su trabajo en Eswatini/Suazilandia:
eSwatini es un pequeño país vecino de Sudáfrica y Mozambique. Devastado por la pandemia del VIH/SIDA, Suazilandia tiene la tasa de VIH/SIDA más alta del mundo, lo que deja a miles de niños (el 12 % de la población) sin padres. Además, el 40% de todos los swazis viven con menos de 1,25 dólares al día, por debajo del umbral internacional de pobreza. Pero creemos que Dios tiene un plan de redención para Suazilandia, la clave para el futuro de una nación son sus niños, en el cuidado de su bienestar físico, la satisfacción de las necesidades básicas como alimentos, agua potable y vivienda, y en su educación.
Adventures in Missions ha hecho un compromiso a largo plazo en eSwatini. Con nuestra base celebrando más de 20 años de ministerio, estamos agradecidos por lo que el Señor ha hecho aquí y emocionados por lo que nos depara el futuro. La base en eSwatini tiene la visión de ver una generación de niños criada para tomar el liderazgo de su país, difundir el Evangelio al mundo, y crear un futuro abundante y saludable para su nación. Acompaña a nuestro personal swazi a medida que ellos alcanzan a sus comunidades a través de iniciativas para fortalecer a las familias y desarrollar comunidades, como programas de alimentación, proyectos agrícolas y programas de liderazgo para criar a la próxima generación de líderes swazi.

Hay unos versos en la Biblia que me encantan, y desde que los leí por primera vez me ayudaron a conocer un poco más acerca del corazón de Dios por aquellos que se encuentran en una situación vulnerable, olvidados por la sociedad, o necesitados de alguien que quiera levantarse por ellos y amarlos:
Padre de los huérfanos y defensor de las viudas es Dios en su morada santa. Dios da un hogar a los desamparados y libertad a los cautivos…
(Salmos 68:5-6)
Dios tiene un lugar muy especial en su corazón para este grupo de personas, Él no los olvida y los ama con la misma intensidad como nos ama ti y a mí, y si Dios tiene un lugar muy especial en su corazón para ellos, creo que nosotros también podemos tratar de tenerlo.
Los niños y adolescentes necesitan ser amados, cuidados y protegidos, y aquellos que se encuentran en una situación vulnerable o de orfandad necesitan de personas que se levanten por ellos y les muestren un amor sincero, un amor que cuida, un amor que protege, un amor que los hace sentirse realmente amados e importantes, y no olvidados, y estoy segura que Dios quiere usarnos para ser un canal de su amor, gracia, misericordia, compasión, y bondad hacia ellos. Creo que entre las cosas más alegres que podamos encontrar en la vida es ver a un niño sonreír y ser feliz, pero asimismo entre las cosas más tristes que podemos encontrar en la vida es ver a un niño sufrir, solo y triste. En Jesús somos la luz y sal del mundo, somos sus representantes aquí en el mundo, seamos eso también para con los más pequeños, las generaciones más jóvenes, y los olvidados por la sociedad, ellos lo necesitan y mucho.

If you had the opportunity to read my previous post you’ll know I’ve decided to go on an overseas missions trip and that I’ve decided to say Yes to Jesus to this adventure of faith with Him. But what you may not know yet is where I will travel to, when I will do it, and why I will travel there, and that is the purpose of this post, to answer all those questions, and to make the official announcement of this trip.
When I was thinking about writing this post there is a song that I couldn’t get out of my head and I hope when I tell you about it you can start to guess the destination of my trip. There’s a song by Shakira that I love, it’s a super happy and fun song, it was the song she released for the FIFA World Cup in 2010, I’m talking about the famous Waka Waka: This Time for Africa! And yes, the destination of my trip will be Africa! How exciting and beautiful opportunity! Specifically the countries I’ll be going are Eswatini/Swaziland and South Africa.
I’ll be doing this trip with The World Race, a ministry part of Adventures in Missions, and I’m very happy and excited to do this trip with them! Couple of years ago I had the opportunity to know about this organization and from the first time I saw and read about what they do I fell in love with it! I even said to my heart how much I would love to go on a trip with them, but honestly I just thought that would never happen. At that time my life was focused on other things and besides that I saw this like something super difficult or almost impossible for me, but here I am today, finally walking to that direction!
The trip will be in January 2023 and it will be for around 4 months. The reason why I chose this trip is because of the different ministry focus it includes, such as: Children’s Ministry, Community Development, Community Outreach, Evangelism, Discipleship, among others.
I love each one of the ministry focus mentioned above and I love the idea of being part of each one of them in many different ways during this trip, but one that was decisive for my decision was the Children’s Ministry.
I’ll share next some of the information shared by the organization regarding its work in Eswatini/Swaziland:
The Kingdom of eSwatini (formerly known as Swaziland) is a small country neighboring South Africa & Mozambique. Ravaged by the HIV/AIDS pandemic, Swaziland has the highest HIV/AIDS rate in the world, leaving thousands of children — 12% of the population — without parents. In addition, 40% of all Swazis live on less than $1.25 per day, which is below the international poverty line. But we believe God has a redemptive plan for Swaziland. The key to a nation’s future is its children — in the care for their physical well being, the fulfillment of basic needs like food, clean water, and shelter, and in their education.
Adventures in Missions has made a long term commitment in eSwatini. With our base celebrating 20+ years of ministry, we are thankful for what the Lord has done here and excited for what the future holds. The base in eSwatini has a vision to see a generation of children raised up to take leadership of their country, spread the Gospel to the world, and create an abundant and healthy future for their nation. Come alongside our Swazi staff as they reach their communities through initiatives to strengthen families and develop communities, like feeding programs, agriculture projects, and leadership programs to raise the next generation of Swazi leaders.

There are some verses in the Bible that I loved since the first time I read them and that helped me in getting to know God’s heart a little bit more for those who are in a vulnerable situation, forgotten by society, or in need of someone who wants to stand up for them and love them:
A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. God sets the lonely in families, he leads out the prisoners with singing…
(Psalm 68:5-6)
God has a very special place in His heart for these people, He doesn’t forget them and loves them with the same intensity as he loves you and me. And if God has a very special place for them in His heart, I think we could try to have a very special place for them in our hearts as well.
Children and teenagers need to be loved, cared for and protected, and those who are in a vulnerable or orphaned situation need people who stand up for them and show them true love, a love that cares for them, a love that protects them, and a love that makes them feel truly loved and important, and not forgotten, and I’m sure God wants to use us to be a channel of his love, grace, compassion, mercy and kindness towards these people. I think among the happiest things we can find in life is seeing a child smiling, and being happy, but also among the saddest things we can find in life is seeing a child suffering, alone and sad. In Jesus we are the light and salt of the world, we are his representatives here in this world, so let’s be that for the little ones, the younger generations, and the forgotten ones, they need it so much.
